Caught this cutie sweeping the protected bike lane on SW 4th Avenue today. It’s pretty easy to fall in love with this mini, fully electric bike lane sweeper 🥰

Thanks to the Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund (PCEF) for providing funding for this work.

Sorry: Here's a link to the Klan Act. It effectively says they targeted Somalis and Latinos and Good got (literally) caught in crossfire.

I got distracted in a long section on far right propagandists like Nick Shirley.

Renee Good's family filed two lawsuits today. The first, against, USG, is a standard wrongful death. The second is a Klan Act lawsuit against Jonathan Ross, AND STEPHEN MILLER and Greg Bovino. It names Nick Shirley and Christopher Rufo as non-party co-conspirators for their racist propaganda.

The most loathesome and greedy people in Portland *hate* Mitch Green and are spending big money to try to take him out.

That should tell you a lot about what the stakes are even before you hear about the good stuff he’s fought for.
The money behind that billboard can be traced in part to the Portland Metro Chamber, the city’s chamber of commerce—and the message shows how eager the city’s business lobby is to unseat Councilor Mitch Green. www.wweek.com/news/city/20...
New Committee, Funded in Part By Chamber of Commerce, Attacks Mitch Green
A billboard that appeared this week in downtown Portland warns voters against re-electing City Councilor Mitch Green, one of the three socialist councilors up for re-election this fall.

Trash.

Dem senators never voted to curtail coaches' salaries, even though the highest paid government employee in most states is a college football or basketball coach.🤡

Dem Senators never passed a law to protect the labor rights of these Black kids, but they pass this law to remove them?🤡

when he reappears in “Picard” and introduces himself as “Worf, son of Mogh, House of Martok, son of Sergey, House of Rozhenko” I burst into tears

like that’s it, that’s his whole arc

he’s a classic Spock Archetype where we watch him strive to integrate his dual worlds and it really got me good

the cornell case has me thinking about how existing as a woman means knowing you could be the victim of sexual violence at any moment, all while knowing there's a high likelihood no one will believe it even happened if you come forward.

LGBTQ+ youth are hugely overrepresented in homeless populations cos their folks kick them out or chase them out. Where is the moral panic over that? Why do we, as a culture, place the blame for bad relationships on abused kids and not their abusers?

The moral panic around estrangement is backlash against the small amount of cultural progress we have made for familial abuse survivors. Against the idea that parents don't get to hurt their kids, against the absolute tyranny of the heteropatriarchal family.

So glad I grew up as a genderless internet freak, so when one mean girl tries to set me up to fight with another woman, I see the chains we share & the struggles we face & how resentment over needs & taking up space is simply a response to being trapped & without power

Imagine if instead of regulating drone risks the normal way (which we did), we instead paid weird bloggers lots of money to worry about superintelligent dogs sprouting thumbs and using drones to kill us.

This is pretty much how the US is approaching AI risks and regulations.

My latest:
Why We Can't Let Enormous Weirdos Regulate AI
Imagine if instead of regulating drones via the standard lengthy, boring, and bureaucratic process - which we did - we instead decided, in the name of fostering all-important American drone innovation...

It's too depressing and obnoxious to write about, but virtually all of the doomy/horny AI hyperventilating is transparently displaced anxiety about our fucked climate and political situation. Even rich idiots know it's bad and being permitted to get worse. They're trying to write their own ending.

Call me crazy but, seven months in, that we're still not reporting, "HOLY SHIT why won't Trump appoint real experts to negotiate with Iran instead of his family and his crypto business partner" is part of why we're here.
Headline, subhed, and photo: Real government officials are going to engage with Iran.

5¶¶ in: Did we say "aides"? I'm sorry, we meant Trump's flunky son-in-law and his developer buddy, but we won't tell you Witkoff's just his developer buddy.
