Phew, what an excellent busy week. Got the basics set up at our new place in medford. Figuring our chickens, pool maintenance, irrigation (people here dont blow out their irrigation?!), meeting neighbors. Finally hit the home bakery 2 doors down today, AMAZING sourdough! Tomorrow back to Boise.

“It also sets the precedent for using this chilling tactic on any journalist or watchdog as it sees fit.“

Oregon cities are doing this over and over again, making it prohibitive for any independent journalist without a team of lawyers to get public records. It’s outrageous.
How much does it cost to get more information about a cop who punched someone in the face? If you guessed anything lower than $2.5 million, you’d be wrong — at least according to the city of Eugene, Oregon.

Horrific disgusting humans, these cops.

“each officer is still on active duty in the rank of officer.”
The messages in which officers Daniel Valencia and Matthew Stewart strategized their reports were part of a longer string of texts that started one hour and 14 minutes after they’d killed Joshua Musselman from more than 100 feet away as he was fleeing into his apartment.
‘I’m hoping we hit him at least once each lol’: SPD texts from 2024 killing show lack of probable cause
In messages, SPD officers hoped they inflicted maximum damage when they shot Joshua Musselman, mocked the police chief’s response to the killing.

really underscores the fact that “nonprofit” does not automatically mean ethical or accountable. it does not seem like good news that Comma is still slated to take ownership of our paper of record here in spokane.

Insane. Disqualifying.
“Risch hasn’t attended a single public forum in 17 years… Let that sink in: he’s had 17 years of avoiding the people he asks to re-elect him, layered on top of 50 years in elected office. He won’t debate Achilles. He won’t host a town hall. He shows up for golf, not for us.”
