Finally left the bird site, but not before taking a final reminder of my warning from years ago:
Where's Weird Al to advise you on accordion purchases when you need him? Because, seriously, I am in need of accordion advisement for the elder child.

My favourite fact about Iceland is that we have many, many crime writers but only one forensic pathologist, and he was so busy answering all of their questions that he decided to have a small seminar for writers to get some peace.

It immediately sold out so he had another one that also sold out.

A good reminder that at any time you start to think a little too fondly of GWB in the current climate, just remember who appointed this (among many other horrible actions).
Genuinely an insane paragraph from Sam Alito. “Voter fraud is real and scary and we have to stop it, so the fact that implementing Trump’s mail ballot rule will disenfranchise millions is legally irrelevant.” Brain melted. A right-wing podcaster in a robe. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...

When they eventually make a movie about this time, please don't put the male politicians in good suits. IMO, the ugly, low rent tailoring should be part of the story.

I regret that we had so many people in my fantasy league that I had to go with the Patriots for my defense, and now I am stuck urging them on for a shutout. Gross.

Wild, given that twenty years ago, I was trained as an undergrad not to touch old manuscripts with gloved hands. If that's magic, it's damn slow magic.
Well that’s a hot pro-glove use with books take

(1/3) With Dolly Parton's passing, I want to put good words on the wind for her. Feel free to quote reply with your own.

Dolly became the single largest donor for the Moderna COVID vaccine because of a chance encounter and friendship with a Vanderbilt researcher Dr. Naji Abumrad years earlier. She

My kids benefitted from this program, just like every other child in our Title I county in East Tennessee. I knew her as a great singer first, my kids knew her as the Book Lady. I thanked her in passing once as the Book Lady once in Dollywood, and her face lit up as she waved to me and my kids.
Dolly Parton, among a thousand other amazing things she did in her life, gifted over 330 million books to kids through her Imagination Library program. Her passing is a tremendous loss to the world, but you can support the program today to keep it going imaginationlibrary.com

I gotta tell y'all, you let them them celebrate their grandaddies who wanted to tear down the republic to enslave our brothers and sisters. Too many official Confederate Days, too many clebrating "all who served." What did you expect? Damnatio memoriae should have been how we treated it all.

Good God he does NOT want to rile up LES QUÉBÉCOIS.
Not sure I have the extent of it but it sounds a lot like Trump wanted Carney to ease Canadian French language rules (and enrage Quebec) so the Ellisons could save a buck on localization

With 100° temps a new norm, Republicans are trying to stop all federal heat safety protection regs, now or in the future. HR 6213 prohibits OSHA from creating or enforcing ANY national heat safety standard. We MUST stop it!

In the Renaissance people theorized, since the Aeneid is great, if you wrote poems made only of words & phrases from the Aeneid rearranged they should be great too, since a great source regurgitated should yield greatness.

They produced NOTHING we still read.

Thinking about that a lot lately.

You ever think about how those old 1950s westerns were set in the 1880s, and if we were to do that today, we'd have a big boom in movies set in the 1950s?

Anyways. I'm sitting in the hospital waiting room.

It says all 55 members would back it. Only 43 votes are needed.

DoorDash is lobbying against DC Home Rule. Time to find another way to get your meals, because no one should support a company that works to deny democracy to DC residents.
DoorDash, in damage control mode, now claims it supports D.C. home rule and denies lobbying against it.

Here’s the letter their lobbyist wrote to Rep. Comer supporting his bill to ban D.C. from ever imposing or increasing a tax or fee without congressional approval. hillheat.com/files/492/DD...
