Maria Raskova was known by some as Russia's Amelia Earhart. It was her celebrity and persuasion that led to the creation of three, all-female night bomber regiments late in 1941. These regiments would fly tens of thousands of missions against Nazi Germany. #aviation #history #WW2

The Polikarpov Po-2 was designed as a trainer but was reborn as a night bomber in World War II. First built in 1927, it would go on to be the most produced biplane in history with well over 20,000 built. #aviation #history #ww2

Nikolai Polikarpov was one of the most successful aircraft designers in the early 20th century. His designs, including the Po-2 were key to the Soviet war effort even though he was the victim of purges of the 1930s and only rehabilitated after his death. #aviation #history #WW2

"History of the Armenians" is the earliest known account of early Armenia, written in the 5th century by Movses Khorenatsi and much of it drawn from oral history of the region. The picture is from a 14th century manuscript and Armenian and English text are available below. #history #Armenia

Movses Khorenatsi (c.405- c.495) wrote the first account of early Armenian history with History of the Armenians. He also worked with a group of scholars who translated the Bible into Armenian, using the recently created Armenian alphabet. #history #Armenia
