I'm not usually a capitalist conspiracy guy but something feels really cynical here when the delusional promise of athletic success is being used as a basis to turn the ire of the working class against trans kids because they might* threaten that irrational pursuit that smacks of divide and conquer.
1/ Most high school athletes are like I was: just good enough to make the team and hoping to enjoy the camaraderie of the squad. A few hope that athletics will help them get into a college. Far below 1% of high school athletes will get a scholarship, let alone NIL money or a professional paycheck.
