this is a really good review. I really liked the parts about mahjong was just a game that their original target audience back in the day was most likely more familiar with than other games or genres, making it an easy boobs delivery system, and how artfully the game turned out with that as a factor.

crunch is for fucking losers. I try to structure my projects so that there's no crunch. Every time I have to ask a freelancer for something on a fast turnaround, it's a failure on my part.

I’m always happy to discuss the second bullet on this list. I think lettering should be done after the rough layout phase but before pencils. I think this will always deliver the best reading experience although it does introduce several production challenges.
