Another morning on the way to University of Limerick. Cars barely moving. Time lost in traffic.

And somehow, we have accepted this as normal.

It does not have to be. Dare to choose differently. Choose cycling. 🚲

Public transport price increases during a fuel crisis while burning over a billion on duty cut.

So the commuter who helps reduce carbon emissions gets penalised while those who held the country up to ransom have been rewarded. Meanwhile we’re hurtling towards a climate crisis as global heating gets worse and worse.
Commuter groups have described increases in public transport fares as "absolutely unacceptable", accusing the Government of asking bus, rail and tram users to "in effect" cover the "astounding cost" of an extension in cuts to Excise Duty on petrol and diesel

Show us you don’t care about climate change without telling us you don’t care about climate change…

We’ll crank up costs for folks who use public transport & shower drivers with subsidies. Nothing says ‘fairness’ like punishing those making better choices & rewarding polluters.

So let me get this straight.

The Irish government is going to continue to cut excise duty on fuel to make things cheaper for car owners but they are going to increase public transport fares on avg by 15%.

Guess we know where their priorities sit and it's not with emission reduction.

To raise public transport fares by 15% in the middle of a cost of living crisis is a slap in the face to these commuters, who see the hundreds of millions that Government has spent protecting some sectors from inflation costs, yet they are expected to pay out more, every day, every journey.
