I wonder if noted "historian" and Trump friend Newt Gingrich is lobbying for the position?
The Smithsonian’s top official, Lonnie G. Bunch III, is retiring, ushering a transition at the institution just as President Trump intensifies his campaign to influence its portrayal of American history.

Here is the full letter Bunch sent to staff:
Read Lonnie Bunch’s letter announcing his resignation to Smithsonian staff
The longtime head of the institution told staffers he would “continue to protect the integrity of the Smithsonian.” He said he would depart by the end of the year.

Sure do wish they could have rerouted that food cart stowaway to Honduras. Or Venezuela. Or Cuba.
NEW FROM ME: The US Air Force has done dozens of secret ICE flights to Honduras since early June, in the largest and most regular use of their aircraft in Trump's second term.

Read it here now, or read it in NYT six months from now. gillianbrockell.com/the-air-forc...

At least some of the flights were third-country removals, human rights group says.

Huh? What? Seriously?

My first thought was, "You must be joking!"
The racism complicates it a bit but this explains a lot of my experience onhere and off.

"Depression and acceptance await."

What do depression and acceptance look like, if not like the anger and bargaining we've already seen? How can we tell the difference between acceptance and yet another round of bargaining?

I would forward this to the Yale grads I know, but like so many Yale grads, they support Trump. Not sure how they would vote in Trump v. Yale, but it's not worth finding out.

The administration needs to know we expect them to not capitulate. You’ll find the contact information on the @yale.edu website, and please contact Cristina María Rodríguez, dean of the law school, to express your support. #DontCaveYale

The dean of Yale Law School and some members of its faculty are trying to stop a settlement between the university and the Trump administration, warning that an agreement could jeopardize Yale’s independence, according to two people familiar with the deliberations.

Wow... Just amazing. Intelligence must have looked into Tulsi's background. Did they miss this? Or did Trump give her top clearance anyway?

I obtained hundreds of confidential memos detailing politics and policy guidance for Gabbard from her years in Congress, then embarked on a quest to identify who was behind them.

The relatively low cost of basic science compared to the incredible payoffs we get from it never ceases to amaze me.

The stupidity of those who would end that research, on the other hand, is perpetually baffling.

I grew up at a time when everybody knew instinctively that people of color were inferior.
RAJU: But what evidence is there to prove the California election is rigged?

MIKE JOHNSON: Look, some of these efforts are so diabolical and so far upstream it's impossible to prove. But I think everybody knows instinctively that something is wrong here.

45470 is the White House mental status hotline. When you text "POTUS" to 45470, it will reply with awake, alert, sleeping, nodding off, drooling, texting, dreaming, sleepwalking, soiling his pants, taking a mental acuity test, ending a war, demanding praise, accepting praise, or simply catatonic.

Velella velella, a strange colonial hydrozoan. Millions of them washed ashore this week around Morro Bay, California. This is the northern hemisphere version - the sail relative to the main axis is at an angle of about 30 degrees. In the southern hemisphere, the angle would be about -30 degrees.
