And if, like @susan-nolan.bsky.social, you're trying to teach your students #CulturalResponsiveness, these questions from undergraduate student Seleena might give you a starting point for class discussions #ICUPO #Psychology #PsySky - great work, Seleena!
Also by Seleena Bakshi: Questions to further ideas of culture/diversity while reading.

Who are the participants? Who is missing?

How were constraints defined; would that work elsewhere?

Does the evidence justify generalization?

What alternative explanations exist for any cultural differences?

We just *love* all the work our #ICUPO founder @susan-nolan.bsky.social does with her students! Congratulations to Seleena on this fantastic article about #CulturalResponsiveness 👏
By undergraduate Seleena Bakshi: Our ICUPO.org lab read Jia_global minds and local contexts_2026.pdf. While we’re moving from a Western focus, we believe much of WEIRD is left out, including key aspects of culture like religion and family. We plan to use tension as a tool to consider differences.

We've probably all heard about the #WEIRD (Western, educated, industrialised, rich, democratic) problem in #psychology? We need to build a more inclusive, representative #psychology for humanity! Do we need to think our language? This article says yes, we do: www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/one-...
Rethinking 'WEIRD': It's Time for a Change
If we want to reduce Western bias in psychology, we should stop labeling people as WEIRD or non-WEIRD.
