The scale, speed and coordination of AI-assisted disinformation are outpacing the mechanisms designed to counter them. Pei-Chi Jao writes that Taiwan's year-end elections make that gap more urgent to close.
China’s Disinformation Operations in Taiwan Are Changing with AI
AI-driven Chinese influence operations are targeting Taiwan with coordinated content, deepfakes, and social media campaigns, writes Pei-Chi Jao.

Very proud of the work my team did with @ifpg.bsky.social here... There is still time - even with just weeks to go, for organizations to put inoculation to work fighting against the disinformation we know is coming as we head to the polls this midterm. And time to start planning for beyond.

Up for any thoughts, notes, and appreciate all...

Given the timestamp, Faine may have posted this literally at the same time I - who need $ to keep studying AI-CSAM - was saying this exact thing to someone at TrustCon, who’d been telling me about a grantmaker they’d met from an effective altruism org who was very excited about insect sentience.
it's funny how it's considered just a little bit coarse and unrespectable to be focused on current and extant threats instead of trying to get grant money to sit around and think about how computer demons will eat us if we're not nicer to brine shrimp
