I hesitated to read this due to mental laziness but am glad I ignored my instinct. So informative and great graphs. Makes this reader despair at UK governments' neglect of that difference between electricity and energy. We appear worse than almost every other Euro country too...

Great idea. Instead of agreeing planning that turfs artists out of the ART building in Edinburgh - to make way for more student flats - can @edinburgh.gov offer serious support? You could find those artists a new property, use some of the tourist tax. Take action to support that community.
Calling all NYC artists — painters, filmmakers, poets, musicians and more! Did you know our city provides grants to support your work every year?

And this year, we're DOUBLING the amount — from $5,000 up to $10,000 per artist!

Deadlines are approaching fast — apply today at nyc.gov/artistgrants.

Very mixed feelings about this. The building is really interesting & to lose so much of it for a lack of imagination is a travesty. The 'developers' aren't really developing.

Kicking out artists and community groups to create more student flats. As one person says here, the irony is not lost in a city that boasts about its art festivals.https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/st-margarets-house-meadowbank-eviction-notice-creative-hub-9236791?ref=edinburghminute.com

The most memorable, because it was the most frightening, moment of my journalistic life was being caught in the Garvaghy Road riot after Rosemary Nelson's murder. It was after the ban but when the stand-offs were still happening. Why would anyone let this back into NI? www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/ck...
Drumcree: Protests as controversial Orange Order march due to go ahead for first time since 1997
The march down the mainly-nationalist Garvaghy Road, which in the 1990s sparked some of the most serious disorder in Northern Ireland's history, will go ahead after a series of courtroom challenges.

Unemployment benefit in the UK is £95.55 per week for those aged 25 & over. It is 14% of average full-time earnings: the lowest in the developed world. Yet it is still too high for the Tories & right-wing vandals who would ideally live in a world where it did not exist.

This needs full public discussion.
The developer Apatura said a charter it had drawn up on 'green' data centres could help with policy and planning decisions on the controversial projects. After lobbying by the firm, the Scottish Government considered endorsing it.

The Scottish Government has been supportive of controversial green data centres and is liaising with the industry. But critics argue there are environmental considerations and companies must not be allowed to “write the rules”.
