Reading this at the moment, coincidentally. Uncomfortably prescient.
Regular reminder that JG Ballard’s final novel, “Kingdom Come” (2006), is about a far-right English town which creates their own militarised breakaway state in a shopping mall, where they worship the gods of St George and consumerism. Old JG wrote it as tongue-in-cheek satire. At the time.
In the movie version of this, after Piddington runs out of food water and money as a result of leaving the UK, the residents apply for asylum and end up housed in a military base, with HILARIOUS consequences.

My father and uncle were the two of their parents' five children to survive childhood.

The Heritage Foundation is infamous for organizing Project 2025.

As I was investigating Heritage, I found that it promotes a network of Christian nationalist schools to parents. That network was founded by Doug Wilson, who is well-known for his extreme views.

On this day in 1787, thirty-nine white male delegates signed the United States Constitution. In principle, the Constitution speaks for “We the People.” In practice, powerful Americans have too often limited constitutional protections to #WeTheMen.

The US Constitution is a meaningless piece of paper unless it's actually adhered to.

Expand SCOTUS to 13 justices. Also, #ERA now.
The US Constitution is a blueprint for governing and a safety net for civil liberties, not an obstacle to be navigated for loopholes. Happy Constitution Day.
