Hey new followers! However you found me, glad you’re here. I post a lot about my work researching networked incitement (check out our project linked in the reply), but also about rap, sports, Star Trek, 19th century Russian literature that I’m reading, and general shitposting.

This is what Trump and the Republican Party has done to an Arab Muslim running for office and instead of defending him without equivocation people like Haley Stevens and Nancy Pelosi have chosen to feed into the totally false narrative that he hates Jews and Black people

Fossil fuels for data centers could wipe out 15 years of US greenhouse gas reductions, causing the power system to generate 42% more emissions by 2030 than it did in 2025.
Data centers could send US climate pollution skyrocketing
Gas plants built for data centers are poised to undo more than a decade of climate action.

Maine has no parole. People sentenced to life in prison are almost guaranteed to die incarcerated, with no path to get out early.

This is indirectly on the ballot now: Governor Janet Mills has blocked parole reform, but Hannah Pingree, the Democrat running to succeed Mills, says she’ll support it:
Maine Prisoners Organize to Protect Their Rare Right to Vote - Bolts
Maine is one of the only places in the country where prisoners keep their right to vote. But logistical barriers to voting still contribute to their larger exclusion from the political process.

Bukele tweeted today (in the midst of a very self-serving “we’re not invaders!” screed that raises questions), “It’s almost just us footing the bill for this operation.”

I have to think that “almost” is doing a LOT of work…

When I worked at a hagwon near Ulsan, I came into work with a nasty cold one day. My co-worker (Korean woman) asked why I just didn’t go to the doctor. I was like, a doctor? For a cold?!

Anyway, in general I’ve been socialized growing up in the U.S. to only go to the doctor if it’s life-threatening
South Koreans visit doctors an average of 18 times annually, compared with just four visits in the United States. @soberlook @visualcap thedailyshot.com/sub...

I've gone once in the past 10 years... get charged $500 just for making eye contact with a doctor

A national socialist Telegram channel commenting on this ad: “Someone put one of our edits on the TV.”

(Afaict they’re not being literal, just that the message is “spiritually” similar)
The PAC that paid for this ad is former LA Gov. Bobby Jindal’s. I always wondered what happened to that guy
Omg I just saw that “America Next” ad in the bar where we’re playing trivia 😮 Did Jack Posobiec write the copy??

Anecdotal evidence, but an unhoused person I frequently interact with is currently in hospital with severe injuries from a beating. Another (a recently-housed resident at the apartments where I work) was punched in the face at a bus stop

Blood, AI, mortality anxiety/dreams of immortality… it’s all a very strange nexus (and not particularly “new,” as it turns out)
What if you knew the exact date of your death?

Death Clock, an app launched in 2024, promises to predict when you’re going to die—and to help you extend your time on Earth.
