What is going on with the trend of leaving out pertinent, extremely relevant facts and context in our local reporting lately? It's malpractice to report this and refer to a "swimming desert" and yet not mention the North Portland Aquatic Center which replaces it and is breaking ground next year.

We could always use a stronger bench. It's also indicative of how hard it is for older lifetime DC electeds to face moving on to a life not catered to by full time staff and the salary/benefits. Not to mention the seniority lost in the process. Same story with Wyden. (I respect them both, ftr)

Unpopular opinion, probably: I would personally love to see Novick hit the bricks and he should be held accountable for his inaction and betrayals, but I question the tactic of not ranking him in a multi-member district race where he could be unseated by someone to his right.

If you're wondering why so few officers were held accountable after the protests, this is one of the reasons. It was IMPOSSIBLE to identify officers. This was a policy choice by PPB.

Months ago PPB arrested a veteran protesting about ICE and pepper spraying a MAGA extremist in self defense. MAGA extremists have maced about 40 people of Portland, total in these last 2 weeks No arrests. They clearly assault us, no arrests. Bob Day and Nathan Vasquez support MAGA violence.

Such a bummer that the new 15 route which I was excited about initially, only stops in St Johns 4x a day. Ugh. #trimet
sadly the 16 was a casualty of tri-met cuts. the transit referenced below is now 1 hr+ so functionally i'm going back to driving whenever i'm too tired to bike
I just took the number 16 tri-met to NW Front/17th from St Johns (20 minutes) which is the quickest and most direct bus trip I’ve taken for work in a full year. it’s quite satisfying when the bus is actually time-competitive

Why does this stretch of NE+SE 20/21st still suck for bikes in the year 2026? I was using this route yesterday and witnessed two separate instances where drivers honked at folks biking legally.
Why do we tolerate the daily tension + hostility as an acceptable tradeoff for some free street parking?
