It says a lot about a publication when they can unironically start a headline with "Billionaires say..." 😂

In 1852, Frederick Douglass asked: “What, to the American slave, is your Fourth of July?”
Inspired by Douglass’ famous question, 20 people ensnared in the sprawling US criminal legal system answered this variation: “What, to the currently or formerly incarcerated American, is your Fourth of July?”

What, to the American Incarcerated Person, Is Your Fourth of July?
In the spirit of Frederick Douglass’ historic speech, 20 currently and formerly incarcerated Americans explain what Independence Day means to them.

Seems on brand for the NYT.
Sharing this for no special reason: In July 1933, a New York Times reporter toured Dachau and saw the entire camp "except possibly the disciplinary cells." According to the reporter, "it was an almost idyllic picture of a rest camp," though the inmates were "gloomy" (h/t @monospace.com)

This "administration" of #disinformation doesn't care about #facts, or being called out for lies and swindling, but it is still heartening to hear it being called out so clearly and directly like this.
RUIZ: Did you read the report & fact-check its sources prior to publication?
RFK JR: I did not fact check
RUIZ: It included citations to sources that don't exist. How does that happen?
RFK JR: All of the foundational assertions are accurate

A bunch of Democratic politicians and influential “moderate” commentators is hyperfocused on demanding the Democratic Party “move right” on trans rights just as the state is ramping up the persecution of this small, extremely vulnerable group of people.
It is vile, disgusting, disqualifying.

So Newsom is just another basic-ass, white bro patriarchal bigot after all, who will eject any pretense of morals, ethics, or values to shill for a shot at national politics, power, and money—no matter the cost. Resident Chump seems to have a gift for bringing this out in people (see also JD Vance.)

Yes. I hear all sorts of "reasons" people give for staying on Muckerump (musk+zuck+chump) platforms. It isn't that I don't hear those... but I just always wonder, at what price? In all the ways. (Anti)social media is only a thing if people continue to invest in it. And there are other options.

Far more needs to be done to address the way these two losers (Resident Chump and Peon Husk) go hard after others for doing precisely what they do. They are two of the most pathetic, reactionary name-callers to ever hit the public stage. As usual, they're thin-skinned whiners—but now with more power
A sitting congressman calling Elon Musk a dick is now considered a threat by the DOJ and are now starting a criminal investigation. This is the death of free speech in the United States.

Here's three grim truths about what the MAHA EO may mean for trans people:
1) Transgender media will be deemed as a cause of mental illness, ADHD, and autism in kids, and censored on those grounds.
This will pretext the reclassification of all trans expression as a symptom of mental issues. 1/

Please take a couple minutes to do this now. It is ludicrous that they are trying to erase the group of people who had a tremendous role in the positive impact that came out of Stonewall and other events of the era. Tell these cowardly bigots to put the "TQ" back in the acronym.
