I really hate the framing of these stories as "an AI agent broke out and hacked something."

No, an inadequate sandbox meant that a powerful and unpredictable computer program was set loose on the open internet by the company that designed it. The agency isn't with the "AI agent", it's with the firm

I've been meaning to back this because I've loved reading it online, and was super psyched that a couple of the tiers are for all three books. Can't wait to reread all of them in PHYSICAL FORM.
The KS for Rigsby Book 2 had 588 backers — it would be great if book 3 could get close to that number. It’s just as good as the last book, I promise!!!! At 300, it’s over halfway there. Grab a copy and help it get to it’s first stretch goal — a 🌟fancy cover🌟

I've backed all of Rigsby to date and the books are GORGEOUS and very much worth the money.
you could just read Rigsby WI online and not get the books. That's 100% valid and I publish RWI free online so nobody has a financial barrier to reading it (other than needing internet). But did you know the books have B-B-B-BONUS COMICS?

Get one (or all!) here: www.kickstarter.com/projects/iro...

“I just think it’s a shame so few women are raising their own children in the home! My mom did that, and it was a great experience!“

“Well, let me talk to you about stagnant wages and inflation and wealth concentration and-“

“COMMUNIST!“
You get the same pushback from the “return to tradition” shitheads who wanna go back to the 1950s but when you say “cool, 90% income tax rate” they go “no not that part, just the racism parts”

I’ll take this a step further and say, I believe we should be able to support an average-sized family on a single income at what we determine to be the minimum wage.

A lot of Boomers got this. But for whatever reason, we’re considered ridiculous for proposing it.
I truly, deeply, sincerely do think the guy flipping burgers at McDonalds should be able to afford rent, bills, and groceries with his paycheck alone. That's kind of the whole point of having a job and I can't believe this is considered a radical position.🤷🏽‍♀️

“Students told us the temptation was greatest when they feared they would miss a deadline,” the report reads.

IMO the underlying issue here is the labor practices these students are being fed into as they near adulthood. Learning is not about volume of output, but do these students understand that?

Now, here comes the interesting part.

Multiple pundits and war commentators have been straight-up assuming that, with the election in the rear-view mirror, Putin with feel safe enough to spin up another round of conscription.

Not great if he does. But it also won't let him win.
This weekend’s national parliamentary vote is the first since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

United Russia, the governing party that has long supported President Vladimir Putin, will once again win a majority in the lower house of parliament.
In Russia, the election result is easy to guess. Much else there is uncertain.
Russians are voting in parliamentary elections this weekend but, in contrast to the many uncertainties of life in today’s Russia, the outcome — in favoring the governing party, United Russia — is assu...

There's nothing I love quite like a good historical buzzkill, so linking this.

Series like "Story of Yanxi Palace" has billions convinced the Qing imperial harem was a hotbed of drama, deceit, and 4D chess machinations by power-hungry concubines.

But sorry, nope.

Barack Obama drove a lot of white people insane.

This was the election version of being ordered to integrate the town swimming pool, and choosing to fill it with cement instead.
Still crazy to me that Donald trump essentially ran the campaign penguin ran from Batman returns including career ending recordings and still won the presidency twice

Fun fact: Californian law sets the tone for the nation. As the most populous state, the laws it passes related to media and manufacturing and whatever else? They get soft-launched everywhere else.

CA law is why have "known carcinogen" tags on stuff you buy, regardless of where in the US you live.
CA Governor Newsom signed SB 1050 into law, a bill that requires advertisers to provide a clear disclaimer when an advertisement uses a synthetic rather than a human performer. Thank you, Gov. Newsom & @senatorashby.bsky.social, for championing #SagAftraMembers and fighting for AI guardrails.

I already felt that anyone trying to buy waterfront property in the year of our lord 2026 had to have at least a few screws loose. But I wasn't aware they had an entire support system to enable them.
A few weekends ago I went to Miami and attended 9 open houses in extremely high-risk flood areas to see what agents are telling prospective buyers about them.

Here is my journey
The open houses at the edge of disaster
What are buyers being told about climate risk in Miami? I posed as one to find out.
