Would anyone in Japan be able to help me and Sonic researcher BitBlitz track down a TV commercial book titled "CM年鑑 '83" also known as "ACC CM年鑑(1983)"? We're looking for any mention of SEGA in the book. It's accessible online to those with NDL library access in Japan only. More info in reply.

Mike has just sent me a message elaborating on what he does and doesn’t remember from the Uniracers lawsuit

He’s also offered to help try and get a comment from some of the key people involved (David Jones and Tony Harman). You can read his message to me below:
A response to Jack Yarwood's Uniracers article.

The lawsuit definely happened, as has been confirmed by multiple ex-DMA Design people, just not usually printed independently in other articles.

I interviewed @sincama.bsky.social and @luigiblood.bsky.social about bringing the most obscure bit of Super Mario Bros. 2 fandom to the English-speaking world for the first time ever. Also? Peach utters a profoundly offensive swear word. Really!

I was genuinely in shock when I first read about this two days ago. I thought someone must have made a mistake. He was so unbelievably kind & generous with his time when I was looking into stories about Software Creations & ZedTwo. My thoughts are with his family & friends.

Please give it a read 🙇 ✌️

Several years ago I was able to get in touch with former SEGA executive Hideki Sato. He originally joined SEGA in 1971 to work in R&D. He agreed to answer a couple of questions via email, one of which had been on my mind for a while: Who at SEGA designed Heavyweight Champ released in 1975? (1/4)

Here you go! Our first piece of evidence that this actually took place (note: Uniracers & Red's Dream are not mentioned here). Interestingly, one part of the story has already been disproven; it wasn't a "moron" judge agreeing with Pixar. Pixar and Nintendo of America settled between themselves.

This got buried amid the AI controversy, but a few months ago, a former Sega Studios Australia employee revealed details about an old Crazy Taxi game pitch from 2009. While the artwork that's surfaced online says "Crazy Taxi 4", one of the names the studio reportedly kicked around was "World Tour".

I really hope some images of the LEGO course prototypes mentioned here exist somewhere in someone's archive. As a kid, I was always fascinated by the part in the MGS2 Making Of where Kojima had built LEGO models of the Big Shell and Tanker

UPDATE! As I expected, since making this live, I've had someone come forward with more info. I'm currently reaching out to more people, but it seems a case was filed and dismissed in 1995.

This is my "random" story of the day - I've been spending the last few weeks trying to find further details on the Pixar vs Nintendo court case that has apparently prevented a Uniracers/Unirally rerelease, & found out it may have never happened (or at the very least, not in the way it's been told).
