I'm one of those without a podcast. They don't really appeal to me.

But I have some good microphones, pop shields and a nice studio...

Should I have a podcast?
Right now, all over Britain, there are people without podcasts.

Some opinions are going unspoken, a few moments undocumented.

But it doesn't need to be like this. Just £50 a month could buy these middle aged men a pop shield for their microphone.

I've kept an eye on my contributions but, seeing this article, I checked again this morning - only to find HMRC now saying that I've missed a year (which I haven't). Is this a glitch or am I going to have to fight my way through their systems to find someone to talk to?

It is worth reading the whole thread - but this came across as disturbing...
Compared with the GPs my mother was secretary for in the 1980s today’s GPs are trained to follow protocols and NOT to investigate symptoms and research causes when a patient’s distress is disproportionate to what they see as the ‘reasons’. That is part of what’s not fit for purpose in today’s NHS.

The last paragraph in the picture sums up what I'm thinking right now.
Definitely go read “Brought to You By: How Corporations Warped the Truth, Conned the Public, and Broke Democracy.” But here's the TL;DR version. www.climatecoloredgoggles.com/p/artificial...

If you can't make it to our Bracknell gig on Wednesday, we are returning to the South Hill Park Arts Centre in October.

Or maybe come to both...

An AI flyer is a brown M&M test. If your event or business is cutting corners by using an AI flyer, where else are you cutting corners? What else are you cheating out on? Why should I be bothered to go somewhere you couldn't be bothered to promote with a little of your own personality?

Interesting reading - but it appears they weren't actually using Claude to develop the guidance algorithms as some of these have been in the public domain for many years. Claude was just adding the finishing touches and applying these algorithms to the particular platform.
>the houthis were trying to use claude to build their rocket guidance system

It is interesting to see the thinking in this article - but isn't it 25 years too late?
'The temptation is to see Hybrid Navy as a programme to deliver autonomous ships. That would be a profound misunderstanding.' writes Commodore (Ret’d) Steve Prest (@fightingsailor.bsky.social) in the latest RUSI Commentary.
Hybrid Navy: Building the Maritime Operating System
To implement the Hybrid Navy, the Royal Navy must follow the example of other successful technology transformations and build an ecosystem, not just a Fleet.

I've not seen many journalists repost this - I wonder why?

Perhaps because it exposes their laziness?
One of the first "outrageous" claims I saw as Jason Arday's media hounding unfolded was that he ran 30 marathons in 35 days!

Wow!

What a thing to claim!

And the newspapers all suggested there was no evidence he actually did it.

Well, they clearly didn't look very hard 🙄

I really don't understand why people are celebrating this when it shows that around 100 million people still approve of him. How can that happen in any functional country?

Another lazy politician using the "rent a pensioner" lady. She's unlikely to be really struggling - but she has a good PR agent.

Poverty is an important issue but please use real people to illustrate your story because using professional pundits won't help the cause.

It was really interesting to read what one well known author thought about writing radio plays 100 years ago.
Morning! Time for a deliciously waspish 1926 attack on the way writers are treated, by A A Milne. It's a broadside at the nascent BBC, but it's even more timely now it's "all just content".
