I am begging people to stop taking this "AI will murder all humans" bullshit seriously. It is OBVIOUS propaganda.

Hang on, I need to go scream into the void for a few minutes.
May I remind everyone that there is currently NO cure for rabies.

May I also remind everyone there is absolutely NO scientific proof connecting ANY vaccine that we produce today with autism.

This is true regarding vaccination in both humans AND in dogs.

Vaccinate your pets please.

created an infographic to explain why arguing the hypocrisy of fascist talking points only helps erode your point.

don't fight bad faith with good faith. don't engage with their point. don't meet them where they are.

they're killing people.

I watched The Mandalorian and Grogu tonight and um. Well. It was definitely a movie.

Some cool bits. Lots of fighting. A couple of cute bits. But overall pretty meh.

Like, I'm glad I didn't pay actual money to watch it, I'd have been cranky about it. But for free? Eh. All right.

so the president and the vice president got on stage last night, did some blood and soil fascism, and told their supporters to cheat to win the midterms

Please don't fall for this bullshit. There will be no five grand if the Rs keep a majority in Congress.
President Donald Trump pledged to send every American adult $5,000 if Republicans retain control of the House and Senate in the midterm elections. The promise, made at the GOP's midterm convention in Dallas, could cost over $1 trillion and would require congressional approval.
Trump, hoping to salvage midterms, makes dubious pledge to give every US adult $5,000 if GOP wins

This thread (and essay) on a chain of AI-first private schools points to the staggering influence of the optimization cult. It reminded me of reading about children of acid cults or EST workshops. Kudos to Ben for digging in and laying this out.
SPECIAL REPORT

Last month, Alpha School invited people to follow student social media accounts "if curious about life in our high schools." I accepted their offer.

What I've found shocks me. Forget the AI and ask instead: Is Alpha Schools a cult?

Follow along for a summary of my findings.

In the last month or so school districts & unis have implemented bans on the use of AI. The glut of think-pieces this week alone that posits these bans as the product of anxiety & fear is enough evidence alone that there is a thought collective invested in reclaiming the rhetorical upper hand here.
What the fuck does this even mean for a History classroom?

the worse the current era gets the more this particular fantasy becomes appealing

Reacher will not Both Sides

Reacher will not My Friend Across The Aisle, The Fascist

Reacher is going to kill them with the rolling library stacks
I mean the entire fantasy of Reacher is pitched at sensitive liberals: what if big man just punched the bad people?

Okay, I heard he could sing, but that was not the singing voice I expected him to have. It's good, but you'd expect a deeper voice from a guy that size.

As a new Harry Potter trailer makes the rounds, it bears repeating that there’s no way to watch this show without supporting J.K. Rowling’s bigotry and the structural violence she’s inflicting on the trans community.
There is no ethical consumption of HBO’s Harry Potter series
You can’t without supporting Rowling’s transphobic bigotry.

All of us who worked in COVID wards saw the horror of COVID. All sorts of people died- those with comorbidities. Those previously healthy. They died fast and often alone, except for their nurse (heroes).

This guy can go fuck himself with his revisionist history 🤬🤬🤬
speaking in front of placards that read "FAUCI MUST ROT IN PRISON," White House official Peter Navarro downplays covid -- which killed one million Americans! -- as "not that infectious" and only dangerous for people with comorbidities

Good morning, Skynet.
They're already shoving AI into weapon systems and military targeting; health insurers are using algorithms to cut off care; employers are letting software decide who even gets seen by a person; and cops are arresting people after facial recognition spits out the wrong face. And in every case, they always pitch the same thing: that it's faster, cheaper, more efficient, which really means the government or corporation gets to process more people with fewer workers and less oversight.
