How high can these prices go before real change occurs? This morning….

Imagine the potential for change.
After spending the past five days in Shanghai, I think we have to amend “cities aren’t loud; cars are loud” to “cities aren’t loud; internal combustion engine cars are loud.” Astonishing how much quieter the streets are here, where the majority of vehicles are electric.

💯
Ban car dealerships. I should be able to check out on my phone and get the keys from a vending machine. I should not have to speak to another person for 4 hours to buy a car lol

EV's should easily surpass ICE vehicles for range in the very near future. Some already can. Combined with fast charging and cheaper solar, the path to oil independence is clear.
☀️🚗 Solar-powered cars could be getting closer to reality in China.

Fuyao Glass has developed translucent solar glass that can turn a car’s roof into a small power generator.

It won’t power the whole car, but the technology could help extend driving range and reduce reliance on the grid ⚡🌱
China is set to get solar-powered cars with new glass-based technology but there's some important caveats
China is set to get solar-powered cars with new glass-based roof technology, the only problem is that it won't be able to generate all of the car's power

There are scores of these on the market. Cheap and efficient. 👍
A rooftop wind turbine that could change the way we think about home energy
Imagine generating electricity from the wind without needing a massive tower, a huge plot of land, or a traditional wind farm.
The technology shown here is designed to bring small-scale wind generation directly onto rooftops

Just finished Facing the Mountain by Daniel James Brown. Stark reminder of a dark time in our history we appear to be repeating. We have a nearby site of a Japanese internment camp "way station" that Sen. Feinstein turned into a historical memorial site. 😔

Genuinely trying to understand the appeal of loud, slower polluting ICE vehicles. No wonder China is kicking our butts in EV tech.

I'm interested in the reaction of 'car guys' to performance EV's. What's missing? Engine noise? Shifting ability? Over time, EV's will certainly take more of the share of the performance market (e.g. BMW iM3) as these reasons are revealed to be emotion based. Non-perf EV's are crazy fast btw.
@d2lo.bsky.social thanks for the share!

It's wild, just *wild* there's *zero* competition for these from established western or Japanese carmakers.

Wild.

Kings Canyon / Sequoia are two great California parks that IMO don't get enough appreciation. Combine with the Eastern Sierra and you have yourself an epic road one week road trip vacation. Oh, and to get from one to another, you get to drive through Yosemite!

California's purchasing power influences manuf. in other states. Laws originating in CA like seatbelts, Prop65, elimination of styrofoam, air quality standards, etc, drive US behavior for companies who hope to sell to CA. This is another example of leadership.
