Fun Fact (& Prediction): Climate change has allowed Southern Pine Beetle (Dendroctonus frontalis) to overtake S. New England forests (Lesk, et al., 2017). There are dead pines in large numbers in path of #nor'easter. @bostonglobe.com I predict significant damage from downed trees & insurance reset.

There was just a locally acquired case of dengue fever reported in Virginia, USA.
The climate is becoming more suitable, the compatible mosquito species (Aedes) is already there, and we’ll likely see more cases across a wider area.

I highly recommend North (2025), by climate adaptation expert @jessemkeenan.com of Tulane. It'd be an excellent textbook for a college-level course on climate change adaptation. It's quite technical, but the last 5% is a very readable and hopeful cli-fi section on a post-climate America in 2079.

Been working my through this book, it is technical, but I didn't need my Masters in Environmental Studies to navigate the pages. As a corporate type with an expertise in risk, North makes a great case for planning and adaptation. Both Masters, @jessemkeenan.com are worth a follow.
