I wrote about the end of the MAGA makeover, the aesthetic normalization of bigotry, and the mall store selling fascist sweatshirts to teenage girls. New for @theflytrapmedia.com!!
The 'MAGA Makeover' is Over, and Its Replacement is (Even More) Terrifying
Fascists are using fashion to normalize radical perspectives and groups into normie society.

I just joined the Bramily to get early access to buy tickets for the Burn the Setlist tour. Is this what it feels like to be a BTS stan?

Is it weaponized incompetence or is my husband truly gifted at making espresso, pour over, drip coffee, rice, taking out the trash, setting up utilities, driving?

my we-are-parents-who-also-work-in-tech-but-mostly-like-to-send-each-other-funny-millennial-reels-on-ig group chat is talking about AI psychosis and taxes. we are the oldest people in existence I think?

The number of reminders that we have gotten that there is no school tomorrow is A LOT. Like geez I get it you don't want to see my kids if you don't have to.

The toddler desperately wants to bring a lunch box to school (we don't have one bc she gets free lunch s/o Chicago public schools) so she found an old Bose headphone case and is real excited to put it in The Bin That Is For Lunchboxes

My persistent intrusive thought is "what if I used coffee instead of water in my oatmeal?"
September 21, 2026 at 3:29 PM
The husband pulled a real dad move with the laundry bc he gave the toddler one of the teen's shirts (that she still wears) bc he decided that it was too small. Meanwhile it looks like the toddler will grow into it in a year.

the toddler's school is having a fundraiser to help send each grade on 4 field trips. This is disincentivizing to me bc I feel like taking a large group of 4 year olds out into the wild FOUR separate times is bad for teacher retention.

The teen is telling the toddler about AI slop and described it as "bad content that will melt your brain" to which the toddler exclaimed, "ewww yut!"

Toddler: dada can we go to the grocery store?
Husband: <deep sigh>
Toddler: DADA SAYS YES!

the toddler is super mad at the husband and is calling him "Dad" (instead of dada) to try to hurt his feelings.

I have to write a paper for work, but I can only really write in the middle of the night. I just made myself a 1AM coffee and it's giving me flashbacks to when @astrochris.bsky.social and I wrote a paper over gchat and then my thesis advisor got mad at me for publishing in PASP and having a baby.

I had to look up this post to carton date the bone broth.
Husband: is that bone broth?
Me: yeah, how'd you know?
Husband: because of how bad it smells

The husband will often open my car door but not in a chivalry is not dead way. More like a no you cannot hide from our children in the garage way.

If I didn't have a flexible job and my husband wasn't a SAHD, I'm not sure how we'd get the kids to school tomorrow. One needs to be driven (doesn't qualify for the bus) and the other is supposed to take the bus but the company got her schedule wrong and logistics have not yet been fixed.
Anyway I didn't realize that school drop off and pick up logistics would elicit so much from me but it is a great example of something that is shifted to individuals and creates a lot of cost, stress, and general precarity.
