Feng, oil on kraft-paper 50 x 70 cm, 2025.

#art #minimalism #illustration #oranje
An illustration of an unusual, alien-like plant growing out of a decorative silver or glass bowl. The plant features a tall, slender stem that bends sharply to the right, ending in a dark, fringed flower head with a glowing yellow center. Two smaller, budding stems stand upright next to it. At the base of the plant, inside the bowl, sits a bright orange, bulbous root or seed pod with a segmented, kidney-like shape. The artwork is rendered in a soft, illustrative style with warm brown and tan tones on a textured background, finished with a dark vignette border. A small signature and date are visible at the bottom center.

#painting #art #oilpaint
An abstract, expressionistic oil painting with visceral, organic shapes set against a deep blue and black background. The central figure features thick, impasto brushstrokes in shades of white, fleshy pink, ochre, and stark red, suggesting anatomical or skeletal forms like ribs and bone. The composition is dynamic and fluid, with a mix of heavy textures and smooth, blurred areas that evoke a sense of movement and raw emotion.

Wash & Flamingo (2013)
Mixed media - JMMYS.nl

#art #illustration #drawing
Oval-framed mixed media illustration of a bathroom interior. A pink sink and tiled walls are drawn in loose black lines with bright washes of yellow, green, blue, and pink. A stylized yellow-green flamingo stands upright in the corner near a window, casting long, dark shadows across the floor. The scene feels intimate and slightly surreal.

Flesh & Flora (2025) jmmys.nl
This is where the vase starts breathing.
Human anatomy with unstoppable plant life to question where you end and nature begins.

A vertical, surreal painting in oil and acrylic titled "Flesh & Flora (2025)". It features a vase painted in soft, peachy tones resembling human skin, from which a dense, organic composition of flowers and fruit bursts forth. Sections of the arrangement resemble organs or fleshy nodules, interspersed with lush greens and vibrant red blooms, including two prominent roses near the front. The background consists of a horizon with a broad, turquoise-blue body of water. The base of the vase rests on a light, vaguely defined surface, emphasizing the dreamy, transformative nature of the work. A vertical, surreal painting in oil and acrylic titled "Flesh & Flora (2025)". SIM-pathy:: maybe next year’s Word of the Year.
That moment you catch yourself saying “oh sorry, I meant…” to an AI.
Why are we apologizing to machines and what does that say about us?
A new kind of empathy is emerging. SIM-pathy.

Poster titled “Sim-pathy,” created by visual artist JMMYS (jmmys.nl). A human interacts with an AI interface, capturing the moment of instinctively saying “sorry” to a machine, a blend of human emotion and digital systems that reflects the emerging idea of “sim-pathy.”
