With AGI overwhelming the news again, I repeat:
There is no path to intelligence via LLM. But an LLM botnet choking the internet, or someone using a local model to attack aging infrastructure, are both real risks and too late to prevent.
Pay no attention to the bogeymen, the harm is here today.

In 2012 I took a comp ling course that went deep into language models as AI.
The professor dropped a quote that I think about probably once a week now: “building a computer model of language and expecting intelligence is like building a computer model of the ocean and expecting to get wet”

Through the grapevine of the very small game industry, I heard that originally people who got interviewed were told Bulkhead was a 4 day workweek studio.

I've been reading 2000 AD for years now, and this is a fantastic onramp. I can't recommend Judge Dredd enough. It's kicking off with a followup to the fantastic and timely "A Better World," examining what happens when a police state is threatened by its own irrelevance. Check it out.
There has been a lot of talk about the Amazing Spider-Man milestone. However, it's not the only big one. 2000 AD Prog 2500 comes out today (digitally and in the UK) and in the US in a few weeks. It's a good jumping-on issue. More details: 2000ad.com/news/2000-ad...

I really REALLY need game devs, and especially those who are in higher up positions, indie or otherwise, to clue into the fact that crunching away for weeks or months of a time is neither normal nor something you should wear as a badge of honour.
