Do I follow people from Texas, New Mexico and Colorado? We have a 19 year old Black girl who is a rape victim and needs assistance with a safe escape, finding a way to get an abortion and just needing a safe place to stay. I’m begging y’all. DM please.

Feel like the wealthiest man in human history seething with rage because he's not allowed to say the n-word should really be the final argument against the idea we have a rational economic system or material based politics.
“Sure, it’s true that many Black people have reclaimed the word. But the lawsuit is about non-Black Tesla employees and managers abusing Black workers — including allegedly hurling the slur at them in ways that don’t sound like anything resembling gestures of ‘respect and endearment.’”
Tesla Argues in Court That the N-Word Is Acceptable Under Certain Circumstances
An important trial in California kicked off with Tesla's lawyers arguing that the n-word is a term of "respect and endearment."

the two big ai stories to kick off the week are

- meta ai giving your address to strangers on fb marketplace
- stole a scientific breakthrough and presented it as its own work

this is what we get instead of healthcare or third spaces or public transportation or pick literally anything else

Worth noting as well that the same people who think this (that rapists shouldn't have to face the consequences of their actions because of "their future") ALSO think that Black people "deserve" to be shot by police / undocumented immigrants "deserve" being thrown in concentration camps for existing.
Part of the testimonial injustice in the situation is believing that the harm to accused men is worse than the rape and worse than the harm caused to advocates and survivors everywhere when men are let off easy

The current El Niño is likely to be the largest in at least 1,000 years and will pile extra heat into an atmosphere in which temperatures are already rising rapidly due to human-caused global heating.

This double whammy means 2027 is expected to become the hottest year ever recorded.

Very good article, on how controlling the narrative is such a successful strategy:

“The question now is whether we can recognise the hunt for power when it disguises itself as free speech, academic freedom, or scientific concern — and refuse our assigned role in the killing of our democracies”
NEW: French researcher Stephanie Lamy exposes the network of “race realists” who hunted Jason Arday like prey, and the media that fell into his trap. If you think the news cycle has “moved on” from this story, ask yourself why?

I think that Dolly Parton was, for a lot of people, an ambassador of the "good" values people think of about the South: kindness, hospitality, can-do spirit, sharp and witty and down to earth. I think for a segment of people, too, she was theantithesis of a lot of noxious masculine country stuff.
I think the universal grieving comes in no small part from the fact she represented the best of what America could be, and that she never stopped chasing that ideal, artistically and socially
