The Shrouded Renegade An Agent Guide A 115K MultiPOV Dark Epic Fantasy Based On A Homebrew DnD Campaign Beneath the looming threat of a rebellion, a rag tag team is hired to investigate an upcoming election, instead they’re thrust into the fray of tyrants, oppressors, and an ancient secret cult determined to revive an exiled god. Princess Juni has one last chance to escape her impending arranged nuptials. To free herself, she must find a lost relic to restore her court’s full power, but her search lands her in the middle of another realm’s corrupt election. Determined not to see another oppressor take a throne, she assembles a group of unlikely allies to investigate. They learn that an underground cult is behind the tampering, and also harbor the relic she needs. As the election draws nearer, she must juggle the increasing instability of her magic, her cruel sister, and court politics, but things become dangerously complicated as she develops feelings and puts her fate in the hands of the realm's most notorious assassin, Death. Arathorn Vhours was cursed by his father to spend his life mercilessly killing at the whim of his family’s illegal empire as the assassin Death. His father’s interest in the election forces him into close proximity with a secret princess masquerading as a senator’s assistant, and feelings blossom the more they’re together. When his father demands Death assists a cult, he and Juni race to find a solution. With her, Death experiences emotions for the first time, pushing back against his curse and thrusting him into an impasse. He must break free from his father’s oppression, or risk losing the woman he’s falling for, along with what little humanity he has left. (text contd.) Death was in hell. A familiar buzzing in his coat pocket claimed his attention. Like the smell right before it rains, predictable dread twisted in his gut. He pressed his tongue to the roof of his mouth. Hard. He slid his bionic hand into the hidden jetted pocket, soft fabric gliding over the metal. After five years, Death still wasn’t used to it. The magic made it seamless—the same movement, control, and dexterity of his biological arm, but it wasn’t his. Lungs burning, he held his breath, staying perfectly still—careful not to let himself go down that memory. Never that memory. (Text Contd.)

Snippet: “Wait, are you telling me that in German, the word for f—ing is… what’s a literal translation… ‘birding’?” “I guess.” “Ugh, I'll never see the eagle on the German flag the same way again.” I choke on my beer, spraying the coffee table. As I cough and snort, she slyly pulls a tissue from her pocket and wipes the table. “The eagle’s on the coat of arms, not the flag,” I say weakly, “and we have another word for f—ing, but please don’t use it. It’s really vulgar.” Keywords: Heartfelt; Spicy; Retro; Destination; Romance Before Sunrise movie poster; Every Summer After (Carley Fortune) book cover; Heartless (Elsie Silver) book cover; Kilt Trip (Alexandra Kiley) book cover Background images: Brandenburg Gate (Photo by Florian Wehde on Unsplash); a couple kissing (Design by Freepik; freepik.com); Berlin TV tower (Photo by Hannu Hollström on Unsplash)
