Household debt at a record high.

Student loan defaults at a record high.

Credit card debt at a near record high.

Meanwhile, corporate profits are the highest they’ve ever been.

CEOs are paid 325x more than their typical workers.

U.S. billionaire wealth is up 30% in a year.

It's unsustainable.

Somehow not everyone is aware of fact alluded to below. So one more time:

John Roberts, Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett were all on GWBush 2000 'Florida Recount' team.

(Which made GWB first prez in 112 yrs to 'win' after losing popular vote. Now they 'impartially' rule on our future.)
Let me see if I've got this right. The team of lawyers who stole an election in Florida, and gave W the presidency, are now the Scotus team at the center of the GOP theft of our democracy.

really frustrated by the number of elder bigots across nz media and commentary, and the acceleration of *most* of the younger reporters to mirror their forebears

doesn't matter if 'the industry is just like that' or 'we need clicks', it's repugnant and individuals CAN actually stand up against it

My position on why the EU- NZ trade agreement complaint’s so serious- we can’t have it both ways - we can’t claim to be honest brokers on a world stage while at home we’re not keeping to the fair climate/sustainability rules we expect our trade partners to also stick to www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...
'Stakes could not be higher': Concern over claim NZ breached FTA climate commitments
International relations experts are warning a case claiming New Zealand is not meeting EU trade agreement climate commitments could seriously impact the country's reputation.

It's critical to remember we have NO civics education in New Zealand. Ppl do not necessarily know how MMP works, how a coalition works, or how to best make their vote reflect their values

The more you can make talking about politics normal and chill, the more ppl feel they're allowed to be curious
A 20yo who's having regular, open minded yarns with their local Green councillor (or now their local Green candidate) has suddenly a whole political world open to them that they didn't when the only person they talked about politics with, was his National-voting parents.

Unlike Australia's ban, John Matheson writes, Canada's Safe Social Media Act asks a different question: not whether to keep children off social media, but whether platforms can be built to deserve them.

John Matheson says Canada's approach shifts the question from whether to keep kids off social media to whether social media can be built to deserve them.
