What goes on at the secret "puppet slams" held at DIY venues in Brooklyn, and why participants say they're a salve to the pacifying sameness of slop:

some people are expressing their displeasure about obits of annie dillard that talk up her looks, and that’s a reasonable take, but let me be clear. in the event of my own untimely death. i expect all obituaries to describe me as a total smokeshow. it’s ok if that’s the bulk of the obituary, even

When they eventually make a movie about this time, please don't put the male politicians in good suits. IMO, the ugly, low rent tailoring should be part of the story.

My absolute, rock-bottom standard for trans allies right now is that when they see a post from a trans person saying that they can't vote for some anti-trans Dem & they're sick about all this, you offer a shoulder to cry on instead of a lecture on electing Nazis.

That's it. That's all you gotta do.
Scolding marginalized voters for not supporting a Democratic candidate parrotting fascist talking points is a surefire way to show you aren't progressive, an ally, or even remotely safe to be around. Your support means nothing if you can't stand up to those threatening to take more rights away

I'm with her.
No candidate, regardless of party, will ever get my vote if they call me a "biological man" and advocate for laws targeting my community.

Its that simple.

I absolutely LOVE this.

Christian Bale spent roughly 17 years fighting to make this happen.

This week, his foster-care village opened in Palmdale, California: 12 homes built specifically to help keep siblings together when they enter foster care.

I still haven't gotten over the way fascism creates a moral inversion across broad swaths of public life where what was evil 5 years ago is now at least potentially good while what was agreed on as good is all but assumed to be evil.

Honestly, I'd say the most disastrous decisions of Obama and Biden were not really holding anyone accountable for crimes committed under the previous administration.

Obama wanted to "turn the page" on Iraq and the financial meltdown while Biden never put any urgency behind the January 6th cases
What was the most disastrous decision from the most recent presidents that had effects we feel today?
Clinton: Lying under oath and getting away with it (paved way for Trump)
Bush: Iraq
Obama: Syria and Libya
Trump I: Covid and pulling out of JCPOA
Biden: Running again
Trump II: Iran
