Trump has been redirecting tens of millions of National Park Service money to wasteful projects in Washington, D.C., while blocking more than 130 planned projects at national parks across the country, putting more than $25 million in already secured funding on hold.

Food companies wanted deregulation. Now there are dozens of recalls across the country.

Mining companies wanted deregulation. Now the black lung rate is at a 45-year high.

Financial companies wanted deregulation. Now financial losses to fraud are the highest on record.

Noticing a pattern?

A thing we haven’t talked about yet re: the contaminated lettuce situation is the amount of food waste this is going to create. Which is, you guessed it, a contributor to climate change. Especially as contaminated food recalls are only going to increase due to sparse regulations.

Speaking of using your own words, don't forget that the NIH's RFI on limiting the number of RPG awards per PI/MPI is open for comment. I will remind you that the RPG designation includes everything from R03 ($50k direct, 2 y limit) to P01, huge U mechs and DPetc.

It's not radical to believe everybody in the richest country in the world should have healthcare.

It's not radical to believe we shouldn't send our money abroad to bomb people when we need money for our schools here.

It's not radical to believe corporations shouldn't be able to buy politicians.

This 👇 but with a manuscript
I changed a thing in chapter 3 of the novel that affects the rest of the novel, so now I’m going through the entire manuscript and editing things to make it all make sense.

Pray for me.

It's great to see all the comments being made in response to OMB wanting to make all grant funding decisions political: www.regulations.gov/document/OMB....

One key thing, though - unfortunately, many of the things in OMB-2026-0034 are *already happening* due to EO #14332:

If you applied for and were awarded a #NSF grant (or know someone who did) since January 2025, I want to know. Not a GRFP, but anything else especially if it was thru BIO/MCB. Thx! 🧪🦠

They say books won’t change the world.
Tell that to every colonizer who burned them.
To every enslaved person who was punished for reading.

Holy COW. Text analysis of comments on the OMB rule: overwhelming opposition, overwhelmingly not form letters. (But 9 in 10 comments supporting the rule ARE form responses, LOL)

Whatever happens next, folks have stepped up.

Hey, Utah teens, if you enjoyed the films Shawshank Redemption and Stand By Me, you’re out of luck. The state won’t let you read the Stephen King novellas on which the movies are based. This concludes today’s lesson on fascism.
