As far as I can tell, gun control and AI control policy questions are the same: can tools be evil/dangerous, or only people? is it ok to make a tool that harms if it can also do good? to profit from this risk? should we care about the political influence the companies making these tools wield?

Sssh. No one tell the spammers of the world that consultants don't actually want 1,000 new leads a week. Or 250 podcast appearances a year. Or whatever preposterous, nightmarish opportunity they're grifting about this month. It makes them easier to spot.

The finish line at a public running event (half-marathon, 10k) etc is one of the most wholesome places you could find yourself. If you need to believe in humanity again, go hang out at one. See people spending time outside, testing themselves, and loving friends and family cheering them on. Joy.
