20-year-old me's entire life plan was to live in my hometown close to my parents and do my basic library job forever. While I miss my hometown, my library, and my parents, I've done so much and learned so much (and fallen in love!) by daring to move out of my comfort zone. I hope she'd be impressed.

Hell of a thread.
I was working in a library, and every day for those weeks afterward, people were demanding that we turn over our copies of the Qur'an (and/or "other terrorist books!") for them to burn or otherwise destroy. We did not, but we had to replace books on Islam multiple times over the next few months.
But that feeling of a shared bond among all Americans in the early weeks after the attack is something I’m so glad I got to experience. Because it’s the thing that I think we’re missing the most today.
