It’s astonishing to see this, even though we saw it coming months ago. White = 10°F + above normal in the El Niño regions. Its immense!
In the air, a regional warming of 10° is no big deal. But in the ocean it’s immense! Think about how hard it is/ how long it takes to cool/ heat your pool. 1/

I predict there will be more unscheduled maintenance in days ahead.

With strong herd immunity to basic facts and overwhelming evidence, I’m anticipating the wackos and grifters will rebrand these as cures for measles and Ebola.
Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine Six Years On
More than six years after the pandemic arrived and ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine were first touted as COVID cures, the evidence shows more than ever that they don't work.

One of several eyebrow-raisers in here. (Happy Holidays?)

"California’s highest king tides are predicted on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, with another in late January. Water levels will probably rival the highest in recorded history, even without a nearby storm."
An El Niño-induced coastally-trapped Kelvin wave will likely raise water levels about 9-14 inches (relative to 1993-2025 averages) along the California coast in early October. Water temperatures will also increase.

The sudden increase will be as much as “the entire climate change anomaly in one go”
El Niño-driven wave to raise California sea levels by a foot — in weeks
A slow-moving wave driven by El Niño is creeping up the coast of North America and should hit California within weeks.

Measured against an already superheated ocean, it may not be the strongest gradient, but there are still zetajoules of heat to be unleashed on the atmosphere.
Confused about why some folks are calling this the strongest El Niño on record already, while others aren't? Several crackerjack scientist-writers from the old ENSO Blog are now at climate.us. This dandy explainer from Emily Becker lays it all out.

This is where the 1% will go to restart civilization after a nuclear attack.

But it for me thinking: what if the uber wealthy built these bunkers for more people — and not for nuclear attacks but for the climate crisis that will get us all — instead of trying to leave the planet?

Even if Canada unilaterally ceased all fossil fuel production (destroying its economy) and could somehow miraculously achieve net zero overnight, it is only a tiny fraction of the global CO2 problem. The terrible dilemma here is there is no way out of this that we don't all lose. We are doomed.

They called Italy.
They called Spain.

They signed multi-year contracts with European suppliers.
