Maybe SFD has looked at every possible solution already and they are using overtime at 100% efficiency, which would mean that every OT hour cut is a direct cut to basic service. But it would be good to have data, as the council is demanding of other programs like gun violence prevention.

The youngest person his pager attack killed was 9-year-old Fatima Abdullah, who had just started 4th grade. The pager was on a table when it went off and she picked it up to take to her dad. It exploded in her face and reports said it covered the room in her blood. She wanted to learn English.

Seattle treats vacant positions differently when it's cops.
Ghost cops (vacancies at SPD unfillable under any scenario) are treated like actually existing cops. Cutting them is "defunding." But it's fine to cut 100+ other vacant positions to fund 66 (also vacant) police FTEs.

Update on the condition of Wilber Rafael Garcés Pérez at the South Texas Ice Processing Center. He’s being taken to the hospital. He is in tremendous pain and tells us that the bullet is still inside his left side. He can’t move the left side of his body.
