True story, Australia used to be the piracy kings when it game to GOT and HBO knew it, which is why they worked to get it released here within minutes of the episode airing in the states to try and deal with the piracy. They notice, they make actual decisions based on it, it's historic fact
I was tempted to pirate HP, curiosity and all that. But @jessiegender.bsky.social is right - think of the amount of times HBO commented on GOT leaks and downloads, just as an example.
They DO track these things, and even that drives interest.
