Some good stuff in here, including a shout out to @dvatvani.bsky.social et al’s work on the StatsBomb xG model and its approach to outliers. Also I maintain that there is no such thing as possession value, just value, and therefore there is no right ‘window’ for PV models.

Good news, everyone.
I remember curating directories of church websites in the 90s. Each one had dancing Jesus gifs, spinning gold crosses, burning bushes, MARQUEE tags. I remember all of us with tenner a month Demon websites. It’s not only AI that professionalises and homogenises everything, that’s just capitalism.
The more GEN AI creeps into everyday life the more people will miss the amateur art around them. School murals done by students, hole-in-the-wall restaurant menus put together by an employee using free clipart, even "bad" paintings done at a drink and paint event-Things with human imperfections.

I think more people should be vegan but I think vegans have ruined most restaurant menus for me personally.
what are things where your own experience and the view of what you think is good for most people vary wildly? For instance, I *hated* university and it was not at all interesting or useful to me intellectually, but am generally very encouraging of people going to university.

The original Gusto in Sheffield before they had kids and downsized. I have had parmigiana hundreds of times since, hoping to recapture that magic, but nobody can do to an aubergine what that woman could.

Here on E Street, we are heartbroken over the death of Glen Hansard. We met in Ireland many years ago and he was always nothing but a great musician, a good friend and a generous and gracious man. Always positive, smiling and ready to sing. God bless him and his loved ones.
