I've recorded 2 Dewick's Plusia to NI overnight 28 and 29 August 2026, Ellesmere Marina, Shropshire (VC40) - possibly new to SJ43. The lure is about to be deployed in SJ33, about a 5 minute walk from the Marina. Plenty of Silver Y; however, no Ni Moth. #TeamMoth

Just popped my head out of the kitchen door for no particular reason to be greeted with this fabulous Oak Eggar female alighting at the base of one of dad's garden plants. Ravensden (VC30). #TeamMoth

My overnight trap at my dad's pad in Ravensden (VC30) produced potentially 2 new hectad records of Oncocera semirubella (Rosy Knot-horn) and Macdunnoughia confusa (Dewick's Plusia). Otherwise an uninspiring set. @vc30moths.bsky.social #TeamMoth

Uncinus obductlla (Marjoram Knot-horn), indoors, 12 July 2026, Putney Heath, SW London (VC17). Not the first site record of this rare but increasing resident pyralid. #TeamMoth

Hmm... British by birth, Norwegian ancestry - my great-grandparents were immigrants (on a boat!)

Just as well I'm not a fan of football; however, may the best team win! #WorldCup

18 species to 80W MV at my dad's last night, Ravensden (VC30). I also found a vacated Small Eggar larval nest while out birding. #TeamMoth

Speaking of which, I was delighted to find and scope from a distance an occupied Yellowhammer nest in a nearby country lane. Happy days! #UKBirding

A mixed week Welsh birding and mothing as the weather was not ideal for either most of the time, so nothing unexpected recorded. About to do a quick stop at Goldcliff, Newport to scope the estuary, then traveling back to SW London.

No exotic migrant moths in either my Staffordshire/SW London traps; however, it is great to see so many fellow moth-ers recording them - especially recent newcomers to the hobby. 👍 [Image: 29 May 2002, Fenny Stratford (VC24)] #TeamMoth #MothsMatter

Wishing Sir David Attenborough a very Happy 100th Birthday! Here's a photo I took of him during a short, private session back in 2007, when Sir David announced the introduction of Butterfly Conservation's National Moth Recording Scheme at the Zoological Society of London. >>> #TeamMoth

I've just got back from leading a group of cubs and beavers on a bird walk. One young lad wanted to use my binoculars, he then said he wanted to smash them on the rocks! I politely declined. Still a good walk though with Hobby the best of the evening.
