It’s Sunday & it’s 8pm so it’s time for #wildflowerhour!! Please share your pics of the wild & naturalised plants you’ve found blooming in the last week from across Britain & Ireland ☺️
For #wildflowerhour today, I thought I'd compile a collage of the cheeriest yellow flowers I've seen this week - floral sunshine for a grey day.

Here are Autumn Hawkbit, Agrimony, Gorse, Common Toadflax, Creeping Buttercup, Ragwort, Bristly Oxtongue, Tormentil, Bird's-foot Trefoil and Fleabane. 💛

A 5 mile transect walked the length of my island home yesterday was surprisingly productive for @wildflowerhour.bsky.social material - though no shocks until the very last, a Sea Pink running extraordinarily late in the year.

NASA picture of the day today is a real 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿beauty! This is a composite image of the ~5000yo Callanish Stones on the Isle of Lewis. The amazing Giuseppe Petricca has only gone and photographed the Sun at noon there, every few days, for a whole year. #Dedication 🔭🧪👌

A wonderful #wildflowerhour tonight, the rain seems to triggering a second flowering for some of our wild plants! A warmer week ahead, let’s meet again next Sunday to see what is still blooming! Happy flower hunting! ☺️🌼🌿
A surprise at Streatley (W. Berks) today. After not finding any of the earlier autumn gentians this year, this lone, rare chiltern gentian (gentianella germanica) has defied the odds to bloom in the later more favourable weather. #wildflowerhour

Great to see all your lovely photos this evening; great also to see that some plants are getting a 2nd wind now they've had some rain!
Which plants will manage to bloom over the coming days? Let's catch up next Sunday to compare notes! And look out for the next @wildflowerhour.bsky.social challenge!
What an incredible plant this is. Grass of Parnassus is spectacular in flower, but with its #SeedHeads, it’s absolutely stunning #WildflowerHour

I’ve seen this many times before on #wildflowerhour but not encountered it myself out ‘in the wild’. The toxic Thorn-apple, Datura stramonium has an interesting fruit, which is more of a seed capsule than a seed head and it looks like a weird spiky Sputnik!!! #SeedHeads

Surprised to find myself on the otherwise impressive panel of judges for Botanical Photographer of the Year, since I'm not much good at either photography or botany. So I should learn a lot, and am looking forward to seeing your photos (so please send some in!).
Today is #WorldPhotographyDay!
There's no better time for you to sort out your most stunning botanical photos & get ready to enter them into our Botanical Photographer of the Year competition!

I’m in a pub in Derry🤪so here’s my gorgeous Bog Star for #Wildflowerhour Parnassia palustris, Grass of Parnassus, named after Greek cattle of Parnassus developed a taste for the plant! I like the Swedish Slåtterblomma which means hay-making flower, it’s a signal to bring in the harvest!

A wonderful wildflowerhour tonight, lovely to see your finds for the #DaisyFamily challenge, isn’t it an amazingly diverse family! More hot weather forecast, what will you spot for #wildflowerhour next week, let’s meet up again next Sunday to find out 🥰
Meet our extended family… the Daisy family.
A wildflower array of the Asteraceae still blooming here at Madrigal despite drought and relentless heat — yellow, white, purple, prickly, feathery and thistle-down soft.
Different weather. The same wonderfully sprawling family

This particlar Marsh Gentian had three open flowers and one bud waiting to open. A spectacular floral firework of blue erupting from the heath.

And then, as the sun began to set, the open flowers began to close, until they were tightly wrapped up for the night. Sweet dreams! 💤
