Shaggy Solder, Buddleia growing next to a Thistle, Groundsel, Red Dead Nettle, White Dead Nettle, Stinging Nettle, Canadian Fleabane, Dandelion clock (there were flowers, wasn't climbing a steep bank for a photograph!), and grass - some kind of Oat Grass? #WildFlowerHour #theWinter10 #WildflowerID

It's a stunning photo. Clearly naturalised there and not just nervously creeping out from the edge of the garden! If you use #WildflowerID to tag any you need ID on, every day or so, a few of us will deliberately look for posts with that tag and you won't risk getting lost in a busy #WildflowerHour

Find out how BSBI trustee Nicola @wildplantwanderer.bsky.social got on with the final units of #Identiplant, our online #WildFlowerID course, and what her plans are looking ahead.
Nicola was a botanical beginner when she started the course.
She isn't a beginner any more!

Helping to remove typha from a pond it was taking over I noticed a mat of green stems on bank and extending into the water.
They are tiny spike rushes but which species?
Everything is to tiny its hard to work out

Autumn Hawkbit - Scorzoneroides autumnalis? Growing on stoney acid soil, burned off by the drought but now looking very healthy if a little small. #WildflowerID #Wildflowerhour

Found this nightshade in flowerbed outside a newly built city centre block of flats. Looked different to the ubiquitous Black Nightshade. Is it Green Nightshade? #wildflowerhour #WildflowerID

The mire at Roydon Common NNR - golden seedheads of Bog Asphodel, the last few pink flowers of Cross-leaved Heath and rosettes of Round-leaved Sundew on areas of bare peat, smothered with sticky, red, gland-bearing hairs to trap unwary insects.

I'm still unfamiliar with many common plants; I wonder if this was Vervain? #WildflowerID

I'm also curious about this plant, as I thought it was Selfheal, but the flowers look slightly different. What do we think? #WildflowerID

Noticed quite a few clematis in urban wasteland environments.
Assumed these were vitalba but later remembered another one, flammula?
Cant remember the differences

A very odd thing to find right by a river, but it certainly looks like Corn Marigold Glebionis segetum to me. See what #WildflowerID experts think?

This small #cabbagefamily plant was growing beside a path through reed beds alongside the Humber Estuary. I think it may be Marsh Yellow-cress (Rorippa palustris) #wildflowerhour #wildflowerID @bsbibotany.bsky.social
