A little bird told me it is portfolio day. I'm a watercolorist with a background in traditional illustration. I've been using the online space to experiment with digital textures and mediums. Monsters, creatures and Villains are my focus and joy. #portfolioday
Digital art of an interpretation of Karthus from League of Legends. An undead creature facing the viewer, implied to be halo'd by light or gold. Wispy, smoke like breath and images surround him and emerge from under his clothing. He is dressed in shoulder armor and some clothing similar to a Bishop's vestments. His expression is gentle but his face is unsettling. One hand is at his chest, bony and clawed. A half-transformed interpretation of Swain from League of legends. He faces to the left, seen in profile, a pattern of eyes radiating from his head. His head is birdlike, feathered and horned with multiple eyes. One demonic arm is visible from under the coat that sits on his shoulders, glowing red and with hooked claws. Some pale, long hair is still visible under the feathers. An interpretation of Karthus from League of legends in a corset-like garment and red over-robe with slit sleeves. The style is sketchy and angular. He is bare chested and doesn't look human. His long hair is tied loosely back with a red ribbon. A halo or sun-disc like shape frames his profile and a black circlet of thorns floats above him. He has something like a priest collar on and seems to be holding a whip or horse crop, the shadow of it cast over his chest. He is smiling, smokelike breath emerging from his bared, glowing teeth. A sketchy, ink-like drawing of Zenos from Final Fantasy 14. The figure is half-blurry and his eyes are intense, looking at something or someone unseen past the viewer. Long blonde hair blows in the wind, marks implied to be embers surround the figure. His armor is sketchy and looks dark shiny, indistinct and spiky.

I keep thinking about reading Persepolis and Maus as a teenager and how impactful they were, how long they have stayed with me and how relevant they continue to be.

I was told it was a crime I haven’t drawn maid Jax yet. It’s always morally correct to bully the rabbit.

Seconded!

Bookshop-dot-org is a consortium of indie bookstores. The service is fast and reliable. No, you won't find the ridiculous price cuts below cost, because it isn't trying to drive all competition out of biz like Amazon.

Boycott Bezos. Boycott Amazon. Boycott tech oligarchs.

New place very soon! I miss all my art supplies so much. Need to sort through what made it to storage and what's too smoky and needs to be cleaned or tossed out. Until then- Borrowed ballpoint pen sketches. #artistsonbsky #sketchbook #fantasyart

The package of censorship and surveillance bills brought up in todays markup has been advanced

Continue to contact your representatives and demand this legislation be opposed. Tell your family and friends, explain how these bills are not what they appear, and ask them to join us in opposition!

Indie game devs, when you use the slop machine in your game, it makes it clear to players that you don't give a fuck and just want money.

Draw crappy but genuine art instead.
The two buttons meme where one option is pay a bit of money for art and the other is invalidate your entire creative work by using the slop machine. The person choosing is indie game devs

every time i see some new attempt to Streamline and Optimize our Lives i think about this kurt vonnegut quote that does rounds. we're dancing animals! not everything needs to be optimized! sometimes a tedious task creates an unlikely opportunity to learn something about yourself! or for joy!!
KURT VONNEGUT: Oh, she says well, you're not a poor man. You know, why don't you go online and buy a hundred envelopes and put them in the closet? And so I pretend not to hear her. And go out to get an envelope because I'm going to have a hell of a good time in the process of buying one envelope. I meet a lot of people. And, see some great looking babes. And a fire engine goes by. And I give them the thumbs up. And, and ask a woman what kind of dog that is. And, and I don't know… And, of course, the computers will do us out of that. And, what the computer people don't realize, or they don't care, is we're dancing animals. You know, we love to move around. And, we're not supposed to dance at all anymore.

Curious George and The Man in the Hat (not yellow) #benadryl #thehatman #hatman #artistonbsky #warmupsketch #myart
A drawing that imitates the style of the original Curious George illustrations. Curious George (a small tail-less primate of some kind) looks worried, an open bottle of benadryl nearby as he looks over his shoulders to see that his own shadow has become the Hatman- the figure that those who take too much benadryl claim to see. The figure somewhat resembles The Man in the Yellow Hat from the original books in shape, but distorted.

i know WHY this is but that just makes it even more of a kick in the pants lmao
screenshot of a tumblr post from user “wildmansters” The thing that really boils my potatoes about Al in general is that I have been a creative professional for over a decade now and the devil has ALWAYS been in the details. Big and small, I've had single-person businesses rip me to shreds over how their colors turned out on newsprint, and have worked with huge companies with THICK brand guidelines with every detail of their brand identity laid out and enforced with an iron fist. But I guess all of that stuff doesn't matter anymore? Who gives a fuck if this Al generated baby has six fingers, that mom-and-pop shop is still going to use it. That rug from Temu says Happy Thanksgivirg? Oh well haha it's just a silly funny thing now (nevermind that you never would have given a B-grade item from a craft show the same consideration). I don't actually care that the Al Coca-cola ad has a truck that changes size every scene, but I can't help but think about how, if it had been some poor underpaid artist, they would have been laughed out of the building. I don't really know how to put it in a succint way but it just feels all the more obvious how much more grace and flexibility has always been possible but never offered.

a photo of the plushie ornaments that got stolen. there's several kinds of dragons and that lil goose at the bottom these are the cat patches on the white corkboard frame, the shroom plushies, and the dragon/flower patches in their cigar box display another shot of the dragon plushies that are missing. of the 6 winged dragons in the middle, i hadn't actually gotten any of them listed in my kofi shop yet but there's a lighter blue one, a green one, a yellow one, a neon yellow/greenish one, a neon pink one, and a neon mixed green/pink/orange patterned one

Anthropomorphic dip-pen and inkwell stand infront of a table stacked with books. Pen holds a sign with '18+' drawn on the center, with a heart around it. Inkwell is holding a paper colored rainbow with 'LGBTQA' upon it. Inkwell is holding a hand up in a 'stop' motion. Behind the table is the vague sense of a crowd also holding signs. Above image it reads: "CARTOONISTS Against Adult Content CENSORSHIP"
