You can argue about policy. But when the government starts eliminating the data we use to determine whether those policies are actually working, that deserves a hell of a lot more attention.

This isn’t the hottest story we’ve written, but it is another big indicator that ICE appears to be seriously considering purchasing GEO Group facilities such as the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma or Moshannon Valley in central Pennsylvania.
“‘The government may be interested in acquiring contractor owned sites,’” its instructions say, ‘therefeore [sic] the establishment of [Service Processing Center] pricing is critical.’”

The July jobs report was much worse than expected: 23,000 jobs lost and 100,000 erased from the previous two months.
There are statistical quirks here. But there’s also a real signal: the labor market has less momentum than we thought.

The July jobs report was much worse than expected: 23,000 jobs lost and 100,000 erased from the previous two months.
There are statistical quirks here. But there’s also a real signal: the labor market has less momentum than we thought.

Starting to think Republican governance isn't a good idea.
