‘Stop the Fare Hikes’ protest outside Dáil today as NTA says further increases likely
Commuter groups, opposition parties, and others are encouraging people to join a protest against public transport fare hikes this evening in Dublin outside Leinster House at 6pm. The planned protest comes after the Government was criticised for 15-35% increases in public transport fares from 2027, and the National Transport Authority yesterday confirmed further hikes are likely if inflation continues to rise.

Book update!

My Big Global Publisher is trying to send me my author copies again, but this time, they have opted to actually fill out the forms and pay the customs charges. It’s a whole new world!

Pubdate was back in August…

Nice things!
I love a good bench! I think we need a lot more of them all around the city and that's why I got funding for new benches in my area in this year's budget. If you have ideas for where to put benches in Phibsborough, Glasnevin, Drumcondra, Cabra or Ashtown, let me know in the comments!

And a quick mid-week pint with a friend, have packed the kids off home to do homework. Highly recommend having one adult child to manage these things.

What about the cost of NOT investing in public transports? Air quality, missed climate targets, traffic congestion - there’s more to public transport that ticket sales. It doesn’t make sense to treat it as an enterprise that needs to break even.

Going to a secondary school open night this evening. Peculiar how all the schools the offspring actually wants to attend don't need to have open nights, as they are oversubscribed...it's wild what a tiny number of subjects some schools offer.

Beoga and Aaron Rowe pulling out of Sheeran's tour is so admirable. Putting principles in front of career is incredibly brave and I hope they get huge support because of it.

And before anyone comments, if you don't care that a business uses AI, then don't bother reading the list. Easy.

We talked about this when we talked about 'bad' DAM jobs (especially common in, but not limited to, heritage orgs)...some are reposted with alarming frequency. Fortunately, they are (mostly) outliers, per our raw data, but it's a huge red flag.

Just discovered JD&Kate candles
"LATE BRONZE AGE COLLAPSE
• Disruption of trade routes - Good thing we don't have to worry about that!
• Climate change - another thing we don't have to worry about
• Incompetent leadership - so hard to imagine what living in the Late Bronze Age must have been like" 🏺
