In 2023, CBP killed a young Black girl that they imprisoned by incarcerating her and failing to provide the needed medical care for her sickle cell anemia

You cannot reform this apparatus which kills people no matter which party is in charge

All killed by ICE/CBP. 32 others died in ICE custody in 2025 alone. That we know of. Meanwhile ICE has stopped paying for most detainee healthcare.

This is a public health emergency. Public health and medical workers. We must speak out.

If this projection is correct or even possibly correct, then immediate global government action is needed. Also, consider the push for new data centers & AI in this context. Context, consent and consequences matter. How did we become so obsessed with money? We’re on a rock in space!

Not sure about abolition work?
Might data help?
The U.S. leads the world in women’s incarceration rates. Here’s a state by state breakdown put in global context.
South Dakota leads the board above El Salvador. Michigan looks good by comparison, but is still outpacing the global majority.
Today's fun fact: if "blue" "progressive" Maryland was a country, we would incarcerate more women per capita than 153 countries, including Canada, China, Argentina, and Venezuela, and would be tied with the Russian Federation. #TheMoreYouKnow www.prisonpolicy.org/global/women...

i’d also say that the GOP’s obsession with this gives candidates an opportunity to articulate and stand up for their values. “i refuse to make anyone feel like they don’t belong in my [state/city/community]. and i want everyone to live the best life they can achieve [insert policy slogan]”
I am taking particular pleasure in the complete collapse of trans-as-unbeatable-wedge-issue narrative this morning. It might be an 80-20 issue in voters minds, but it has to be on voters minds to matter. The results in VA demonstrate that it is very much not on voters minds.
