I think the split for my History GCSE result was 60% exam, 40% coursework. (1997)
My daughters chosen her GCSE subjects and history is now 100% exam (2029)
I’d be in favour of coursework making a return. My daughter is very academic but doing coursework is a skill she should also develop 🤷♀️
