20 year old me didn't have MS yet, so hopefully impressed with that added context that wouldn't be fully understood
Would 20 y/o you be impressed or disappointed by you today?

20 years ago we closed a bunch of schools. In Ward 1 specifically Putnam, Holland, and Tuttle come to mind. Now we have charters schools either in the exact buildings of all those schools or mere blocks from where they were. Just look to recent history to see how school closures don’t work

We are just coming off of COVID, the murder of George Floyd, a complete school district redesign, and now operation metro surge. MPS needs stability and increased investment, not school closures.
A rushed and reckless plan to close 17 schools is the last thing our district needs right now. Our children are our everything, and they deserve a district that takes its time, engages with families, and builds a plan actually rooted in the needs of our community: not this.

Minneapolis Public Schools has treated our Hmong community so terribly. someone needs to release the equity audit from the CDD just so folks know how truly awful it has been & then pair it with these transformation options.

this is why our Hmong community is leaving Minneapolis. shame.

A stark reminder that environmental protection laws and pollution regulations work! 😧
In 1926 there was a fish survey in the Mississippi River from Minneapolis to Hastings almost 50 miles of river.

They found 3 fish.

This is the way
Medium take: Give it a bigger space and just admit you’ve got a smash hit.
Hot take: Crop Art has outgrown the State Fair.

The MIA, Walker, or MNHS should be lining up to host a 6-8 week crop art exhibit.

Or it becomes MNs best roadside attraction, ala the Corn Palace.

It would be great if all the anti-ICE crop art, fine art, and fiber arts and crafts pieces from the 2026 Fair could be gathered together for a combined free exhibit at the MIA. Select pieces would go to MN Historical Society.
People know about the crop art at the MN State Fair, but don't sleep on the fiber arts.

MN folks, as the fair approaches: Tiny Tom or Tom Thumb?

@mayorjacobfrey.bsky.social wants Minneapolis to be on the Trump nonsense train
"If I were the mayor of a town or the governor of a state, and I had a chance to get a big plant in, an AI plant or a data center," President Trump said, "I would absolutely want it because the jobs are enormous and the money paid, the taxes paid, are just enormous."

Trump keeps embracing data centers, an unpopular topic in midterm races
The race to build data centers, which power artificial intelligence and cloud computing, has run aground amid frustration from voters who don't want to live near the massive warehouse campuses.

Lisa Demuth invites Nick Shirley to Minnesota and there's a direct line there to multiple people being killed by ICE. I hope MN remembers that come November.
