All of the broader things that we're losing thanks to AI—from being able to trust others to cheap GPUs—are a much bigger issue but what really gets to me personally is just losing respect for people I used to like. Ah it turns out that a shiny toy and flattery overrides your moral compass. Okay.

i seemingly blew up my truenas instance today by Doing Too Much with it. i was getting insane io wait times, all 32 threads maxed out, containers hosed left and right. ultimately, i think rebooting the thing is what killed it. because after that, it just would not boot past the grub menu.

with all the supposed bug fixes in the latest version of ios, they conveniently did not address the one bug that's been plaguing me for years at this point.

It requires meta to "invest" more in its "behavioral" age assurance system, ie monitoring everything you do on the platform and trying to figure out if you might be a teen
