Absolutely spot-on by @anildash.com here:

Also, @masnick.com writes “Of course, my biases are known: I’m quite convinced that training AI on copyrighted works is fair use”.

I agree but may not have as solid of a legal rationale. I see it plainly: after reading a book & absorbing that knowledge, I’m then free to use that knowledge.

New: A bombshell update in Alden Global Capital’s case against Microsoft & OpenAI you won’t find reported by The Denver Post because they only write for their owner’s side of the story: Lawyers for Alden basically manufactured the 3rd party research for showing how AI harmed them.
OpenAI Accuses Plaintiffs’ Lawyers Of Paying For, Hiding, And Then Laundering Sketchy Key Evidence In AI Copyright Case
A ton of attention was paid recently to some offhand statements from OpenAI and Microsoft employees that surfaced in filings in the NY Times' ongoing case against OpenAI, which has been consolidated into a much larger class action lawsuit. As I argued earlier, that struck me as something of a nothingburger of a story, because...

Not new but in case you missed, I did a deep dive into Kyle Clark’s abuse towards people. Last night I was looking again & he keeps getting worse. His hate is not directed toward one thing or one group, he hates people in general & like Trump can’t stop talking about himself #coleg #copolitics
Kyle Clark’s Trolling Blurs the Line Between Journalism and Entertainment
This article illuminates Kyle Clark's use of social media and supports the argument that Kyle Clark is not practicing journalism but some other form of media.

Does anyone think it’s interesting that @propublica.org hired a journalistic fraud for their Colorado state partnership & now won’t list who the editor was at ProPublica who worked on it? They explicitly note every Local Reporting Network collab has both a local editor & a ProPublica senior editor.

#copolitics This article has quotes from Marx talking about beating his wife and his child, and drawing guns and knives on people. This is the most horrible of everything I’ve read so far.
EXCLUSIVE | A MAGA-backed ministry leader vying to be Colorado’s next governor recounted how he threw his toddler across the room and declared that God gave him a “gift” for violence.

New & shocking but not shocking #coleg #copolitics: I learned Steve Zansberg is working directly w/Chris Osher on Osher’s deceptive marijuana series.
