OpenAI’s top scientist, in a blog post on Sunday, warns that artificial intelligence is evolving so rapidly that it is becoming increasingly difficult for humans to understand and control it.

Here is the post:

And a couple of small excerpts--clear warnings.

there's a pretty simple connection here

1. humans become good at what they practice doing

2. outsourcing to an AI or even other people, means you have stopped doing the thing

3. if you stop doing the thing, you will stop improving, and, long term, get worse at it

(cont.)
i really think genai causes actual brain damage. probably faster than most ways you can on purpose give yourself brain damage. and if you hear this statement as literally as i mean it i think it sounds sorta conspiracy nut, but undeniably less conspiracy nut than the apparent sum of its parts

Why is 🙂 "slightly smiling face" and 😄 is "smile"? It feels like 🙂 should be "smile" and 😄 should be like "very smiling face". In this paper, we contribute the following to the literature:

I, for one, welcome the ketchup slices. Not because I *want* to use sliced ketchup, but because we really need more silly things like this to feel passionate about instead of how everywhere is on fire and everything is terrible and everyone is going to die

I started trying to compile the full transcripts of The Good Place for a Bluesky bot, but the source I got them from was (badly) TikTok-censored.

"Cocktail" and "cockroach" are both words that show up frequently in the show, but the censoring method did not work well for them... 😭💀

You must learn the power of your own limitations. If your art is crap, either get better at art, figure out a way to make its crappiness look intentional, or ask for help.

noticed I couldn't send DMs to my clients anymore for my current freelance work so, cool, thanks
