A statistic that haunts me because it is 100% true and shocking and useless in advocacy precisely because it is true and shocking:
Policy that enables a 1-car lifestyle rather than 2 is equivalent to giving a family a $25,000 annual pay raise.

I have to say I was irritated to find as much trash as I did, near the fire circle and women/children memorial. Is expecting them to be immaculate too high of an expectation? Not if it's cigarette butts and beer cans. Do better.

This is literally an infrastructure with serious community and social cohesion benefits. A public unity project. Even keeping it scoped to the Windsor-Quebec City corridor is limiting its benefits. lfg already

Electrification of streetcars on Yonge Street began in 1891. In reality, streetcar service began 30 years prior. Toronto was already doing higher-order transit pre-confederation. Wild.
165 years ago today Toronto rolled out a brand-new way to travel: Canada’s very first streetcar line, running along Yonge Street. Operated by the Toronto Street Railway, the debut was marked with great fanfare on Sept. 10, 1861.

Not seeing official confirmation, but a comment on a reddit post claims there was a near miss on GO Transit's Kitchener Line late last night, where a runaway freight car was rolling towards the GO train. GO's website indicated there was an incident involving a CN freight car, but it disappeared.
