This really is a remarkably good piece of legal writing. It hits the tone required by the specific client and circumstances, makes the legal points it needs to make, and, simultaneously, is written as a document that will become public. This one goes in the "for potential teaching use" folder.
Your typcal demand letter is agressively dismissive, but I'd describe this one more as "serenely implacable." It's a fascinating rhetorical study.
