One of the things I admire about most religions like Greek mythology is that the gods are simply humans with power. The way a Greek god or demigod behaves is simply how an unchecked financier or Wall Street banker will behave. Lessons are there.

The stories of love gone wrong are more popular, and Inferno is more popular than Paradiso, but one story where it is embodied beyond expectation is enough to relight the torch of hope. Hope that man and woman, can in fact, be one again.

You have the biggest wake up call when you realise we all share the same desires and fears. You convince yourself you are special but not realising our creator shared or gifts and burdens equally among us.

A blessing of the internet is that somewhere out there, someone is doing great things. It’s easy to become caught by unfortunate events but if you look well, there are many wonderful things happening.

There is a verse in the bible that reads as follows:
‘Ye cannot serve God and mammon’.
Mammon refers to material wealth personified as a false god, and the ultimate manifestation of this verse was when Judas betrayed Jesus.

In our moments of desperation, it is wise to be careful who we accept aid from. There are so many who see giving it as an opportunistic feat.

The problem with existing on the fringe; being the product of two distinct ideas, is that you inevitably yearn for those ideas to embrace one another. In the end, all you are is a third idea, cast out from the other two, and they will treat you as such.

Perhaps the greatest travesty you can enact on yourself is to not learn reading at a good level. The ability to read was the biggest tool used to control for centuries. If you could read and were not meant to know how, the punishment was sometimes death. Read.

When looking at the reality in what much of Christianity has been used to accomplish; it is a difficult thing for anyone of African descent with open eyes to reconcile with the nature of the faith itself.

In Dante’s Divine Comedy, he first had to navigate the inferno, with all its turmoils, before he could have the chance to see purgatory and the paradise.

Every rose has its thorns. The true beauty is that we get to decide which part of the rose wins. The petals, or the thorns. But, a rose isn’t know for its thorns. We, when given the chance, overwhelmingly choose beauty.

The most powerful aids to help you achieve your goal are the extremes of emotion. Make your choice; love or hate. One of them will take you to where you need to be.

A philosopher leads a dangerous life mentally and spiritually.
Perhaps the greatest achievement of a human is to see the world for what it truly is…
…and choose to smile anyway.
